Glasses to prevent drinks being spiked

Some Italian night clubs are planning to test a new type of drink glass, which is designed to prevent drinks from being ‘spiked’, in particular with the sedative gamma-hydroxybutyerate (GHB), which is apparently being used as a date-rape drug.

The new glasses are conical, with a sealed hole at the top where a straw can be inserted. The idea is that after filling the glass from underneath, the barman will seal it so that the liquid can't be tampered with until the seal at the top is broken with a straw.

    why not line the cup with a dection strip that is sensitive to GHB. It could glow or turn a funny color so when the person takes a sip they will see the strip in their cup and stop.
