Woman with two wombs gives birth

A British woman has successfully given birth to twins from separate wombs. She has a rare abnormality where two wombs develop instead of one. She was also born with two vaginas, but they were surgically combined when she was 21. From the story on Yahoo! News:

“I thought I would never be a mother,” …

“Now I have two miracles. I am full of every possible emotion. Life isn't about my two wombs now—it's about my two babies.”

  1. my daughter has just found out that she has a double womb she is 17. she was bleeding every two weeks so she went for a check up at the doctors who has now said after a scan that she is 22 weeks pregnant.i would like to know wat difficults this can have. and realy as much info i can find out about it.

  2. K: I'm not a doctor, so I don't know if there any problems associated women with double wombs getting pregnant, but according to this BBC article about one in a thousand women have this condition:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6199363.stm

That story is about another case where a women had triplets in two wombs. That's amazingly unlikely, but it looks like the actual two-womb condition isn't all that rare, so I'm sure it's something that the doctors will know how to deal with.

All the best to your daughter!
