Jerry Springer film banned from supermarketsDecember 7th 2005, 01:30 Jeff Sela A small number of Christians have managed to get two supermarket chains in the UK (Sainsbury's and Woolworths) to take the controversial Jerry Springer: The Opera of the shelves. Christian groups have been complaining for a while now, to anyone who'll listen, because the show apparently mocks their beliefs. This particular incident isn't a big deal, but it sets a bad precedent. We really don't want opinionated minorities telling us what we're allowed to buy in the shops. I'm going to have to get a copy of this. I wasn't particularly interested in seeing it, but if it can generate this much ire then there must be something to it. < Response to “Consultation: On the possession of extreme pornographic material” | Christians publish nude calendar > |
